Day 6: Giraffe
Today's major activity involved darting a giraffe for transport! We worked with a group of wildlife guide students, who handled much of the actual loading. We provided monitoring, support and medical procedures such as injections. This giraffe was a young male (bull), but even young, he was B-I-G! I don't think the photos really can give a sense of just how large these amazing animals are. And, as much as they appear to move in slow motion, the students can attest to just how fast they can move across the ground. Chasing a giraffe, even a darted one, is quite the challenge!
